| I've noticed no one has started anything yet, so I want to start one. How do you feel about the whole 'life on other planets' issue? | |

| Well... my mum is really into physics and space an dstuff so I know how huge it is. I fugure that its likely that there are life forms out there somewhere just maybe not ogglyeyed and carniverous. | |

| This is my impression of an alien any way my view on this is the same as its been since I was 8 and read a book called… urm I cant remember, but it was about aliens... a fact book not fiction well… as far as a ‘fact’ book on aliens can be facts.. and not just made up! I agree with kips that there is life out there but not as we know it | |

| I think that their way of life would be entirely differenet to ours because we'd of had absaloutly no contact whatsoever. Even the tribes in africa have had contact with us in the west, at least a small amount. So yeah, so much about them would be different. | |

| the universe is so impossibly massive that there must be life out there. when the universe was being made, big bang or god or whatever you believe, is it really logical that so many other things were created in mass amount, like all the elements and stuff, but it was only our planet that happened to have the elements combine in the right way to make life? doubtful.
there could be a planet out there that is exactly the same. the chemicals reacted in the same way to make life and since then have evolved in the same way due to having the same conditions to live in.
THERE COULD BE A WHOLE PARRALELL UNIVERSE!

and if theyve all made different decisions they could be way behind us on the technology side of things, or way in front.

| I agree that it's unlikely that we're the only planet with life forms on it. But you were saying that women might be the domient species, or even a black widow spider. If there are planets with other life forms, then it's unlikely that they will have evolved the same way as us. They might be thousands of years ahead, they might be thousands of years behind.
In all these science-fiction programs and stuff, the aliens have to look somehwat like people, as it's actors playing them (yes, I know, I've spoiled it for you, haven't I?). But real "aliens" might be little microorganisms that we can't see. They might be totally unlike us in every way. We don't know, and we won't know until some genius works out how to travel way way way into outer space so that we can find these other lifeforms. | |

| Yeah, I agree with cathastings. Maybe the other life-forms aren't humanoid. Who knows, they could be something that we've never thought of. We have stereotyped aliens, with all the sci-fi movies out there. And the smiley | |

| its still possible theyre not though...
and if theyre microscopic organisms then chances are they will evolve in the next millions years or whatever speed theyre moving at to becom elike us or other animals.
hate to break it to you, but ive never seen a sci-fi film. i know its hard to believe but i havent even watched a sci-fi programme on TV; not even star wars! so to be honest, i have no idea what the aliens look like on those things...

| Lol Kips, I know the spider thing was a joke, I was just using it as an example because people seem to think that aliens will look like us, only green with antenas. Like this --> Knightthorn, I'm Cat, nice to meet you. Not cathastings, just Cat. Foaf, they all just really look like that smiley. Green with things sticking out their heads. Obviously they have to look vagually human because of the human bodies playing them. Or if it's a cartoon, because we have nothing else to base our ideas and creativity on. | |

| oh how exciting.
then agggaaaiiinnn. thats not necessarily true. we dont need actors to play aliens and monsters anymore because we have the technology to create them right from scratch by computer. If we didnt have a basic image to use as the template for an "alien" you would see one on screen and think, is it a monster or an alien? They dont use the green with feelers for monsters do they?

| It would depend on how many there are. If there is only one, then it'd have to have some special powers or something. But if there wer a ton of them, then that might be more interesting. | |
